Cycle Turismo only uses top quality bicycles for your cycling experience. We have a range of road bicycles (all less than one year old) and all selected for their comfort, handling, and reliability. Of course, you are free to bring your own bike.

The Bikes

EMC2’s goal is to provide the best ride in the world.

Designed by Eric McKenzie. New Zealand born, Eric became a European-based professional. Under the guidance of the 'great' Eddy Merckx, he competed for wins in a wide range of races from the furious 'one day' classics to the Grand Tour including the greatest race of all - the Tour de France. Competing in this incredible event four times and riding a variety of the world's most famous and respected bike brands increased Eric’s deep passion that he has today about what makes a great bike perform exceptionally well.

Climbing through the French Alps, up and down the mighty cols, contesting and winning bunch sprints against the best sprinters in the world all helped to increase Eric’s knowledge of bikes.

With Eric’s help we’ve selected the Etape R2.0 road bike for men, and the Etape R2.2 Fem for women.

The Bikes

Etape R2.0 (2010 edition)

Description:
Super lightweight and balanced frames with exceptional handling offering a confidence inspiring ride. For added comfort, the Etape R2.0 comes with carbon forks and seatpost.

Specifications:

* Frame: Super light XXL3 tubing, SPF top tube, smooth flat welds, carbon fibre seat stay
* Fork: Carbon fibre
* Components (Chainset): Shimano 6700 Ultegra, 20 speed
* CrankSet: Shimano 6700 Ultegra
* WheelSet: EMC2 RA1 with Kevlar belted tyres to limit punctures

The Bikes

Etape R2.2 Fem (2010 edition)

Description:
The Etape R2.2 Fem is similar to the men’ s bike above, but features a proportionally shorter top tube and women’s specific geometry. In addition a women’s specific seat and shallow drop handlebar is provided.

  • Fork: Carbon fibre
  • Components (Chainset): Shimano 105, 20 speed
  • CrankSet: Shimano 105
  • WheelSet: EMC2 RA2 with Kevlar belted tyres to limit punctures

Each bike is supplied with:

  • Odometer cycle computer
  • Waterbottle (new and yours to keep)
  • Look Keo or Flat pedals 
  • Lock

We will also fit your favourite pedals or saddle if requested

Each bicycle is tuned-up and prepared prior to your arrival on the tour. If you have any troubles with the bike, an experienced mechanic will be there to solve any problems.

Cycle Turismo exclusive:
Where possible, Eric will personally fit you to your bike prior to the tour commencing, and participate in our warm-up ride to ensure the bikes are performing to his exacting standards.
